Local cheeses rub shoulders with desserts such as strawberry and cracked pepper parfait with spearmint salsa or brioche bread-and-butter pudding.

The Turtley Corn Mill Avonwick (29 min) 01364 72488
The Turtley Corn Mill has recently been smothered with loving attention! Three months of renovation have introduced oak & slate floors, bookcases, old furniture and loads of local pictures. The style is light and fresh with no music, fruit machines or pool tables, just newspapers to read, books to browse, good food, great local beers and interesting wines.
The location is idyllic; the original Mill is set in six acres of grounds bordered by the river Glazebrook, we even have our own small lake complete with an island, perfect for sunny days and idle wandering!
Our menu changes daily and features much local produce but the menu you can read here is fairly typical and is available from 12:00 midday until 21:30 daily.
We love wines too and have an interesting and reasonably priced range from all over the world; not clever wines just good honest ones with a bit of character. We also love beer and our cellar has a good range of regional and local beers, most from brewers that know us well. When you know who has brewed it somehow it tastes better! Our main beer comes from Summerskill’s just down the road, supported by beers from the Princetown Brewery on Dartmoor and others who share our pleasure.

The Winking Prawn Salcombe (44 min) 01548 842 326
Memorably and accurately described as a shabby beach hut, The Winking Prawn is a much loved landmark on the North Sands Beach at Salcombe. Slightly eccentric, utterly relaxed and extremely busy, the Winking Prawn is open seven days a week in summer from 10.30am till 11.00pm. Out of season it’s open at weekends, half term and holidays. It’s so much fun to eat there that the garden is often full to its capacity of 180 and inside seats 60. Part of the fun is dressing up from the owners fancy dress chest and joining in the fun to create a great atmosphere.
